You are at the entrance of a beautiful City of Gold in a hazy climate! Each mile you walk along the road tells you about the variety of romance tales! When you are in Prague with your soulmate, you are not taking a holiday; you are opening a chest of memories together, one that’s filled with unforgettable things to do in Prague for couples.

Prague is truly the City of Lovers. I have just returned from a visit to the Czech Republic, completely enchanted and wanting to share all my discoveries! The only way to do this is through sharing my heart. I’ll share my moments and the experiences that turned what should have been a regular holiday into a chapter of both of our love stories.

When I got off the plane, my friend, Jasper, started asking me questions about everything that happened there. Enjoy a cosy chair, and while sipping some tea, let me explain how we put together a great romantic place trip for two!

A Romantic View of the Beauty of Prague

Me: To be completely honest, Prague is one of the most beautiful cities I have seen. I thought I knew what I was expecting, an old-world European city, but I found it to be so much more. It is a city that is very intimate, with the colour of the buildings and the peace that allows you to take time for yourself. It is just what every couple wants. In the case of people intending to visit Prague, it is imperative to know what to see in Prague in order to experience the real beauty of the place.

Jasper: I know! When you mailed me those great blurry pictures! I would like to have your itinerary. Not the dull stuff about the tourists; give me the romance. I would like the top 10, according to their romantic value. Hurry! Hurry! I am just making plans to run away!

Me: Alright, sit back and grab a cup of Earl Grey. This is not just a list; it is a blueprint of how to fall in love with one another once again in the most beautiful of settings that you might have ever imagined.  Here is the list of the very best romantic things to do in Prague for couples that we did, counting back from the moment that made time stand still.

10. The Old Town Square at Night, Truly Magical

A vibrant summer day in Prague showing historic buildings, bustling streets, and warm golden light, an inviting setting for showcasing things to do in Prague for couples who enjoy sightseeing together.

Jasper: You really need to include the Astronomical Clock on the list! It is definitely the most iconic and picturesque spot here.

Me: Of course, but during the daytime, it isn’t just an incredible postcard picture when it is a total madhouse or a crowded mess. The real magic of getting to experience the clock happens after 9:00 pm. Just imagine all the crowds were gone, the square is softly glowing with a buttery yellow light, and the Astronomical Clock is now illuminated beautifully. We found a lovely little café hidden away in a side alley that had virtually no customers, and as we had ordered 2 svařák, or mulled wine, we sat there just watching the architecture speak.

It literally felt like we were the only 2 people left in the 14th century! It wasn’t about the excitement of hearing the clock chime; it was so much more about enjoying the experience of being there, at that location, at that time, and just taking it all in together while bundling up against the evening coolness. This is one of the most essential things to do in Prague for couples. This is truly one of the top Prague attractions.

9. Discovering the Hidden Courtyards of Josefov

A wide shot of the large Josefov Fortress with its imposing stone walls and grassy surroundings, ideal for describing things to do in Prague for couples who enjoy history and off-the-beaten-path adventures.

Jasper: The Jewish Quarter is interesting, but isn’t it sad instead of romantic?

Me: That’s what makes it romantic! Romance can be experienced in many ways, but it doesn’t have to be only in the form of extravagant actions and signs of love between couples; our ideas of romance can come from sharing deep and intimate feelings for each other.

The old Jewish quarter, which is referred to as Josefov, is also a great place to take a walk. There are numerous tombstones piled up in the Old Jewish Cemetery. You walk hand in hand and talk of time and legacy. Passing a curve on the road, it is immediately noticeable that you are going to view the Spanish Synagogue. The interior splendour is breathtaking. It is hard not to admire this great experience because it is the expression of the beauty and power of the Jewish community.

If you walk through a historic area of the city with a companion, you can connect especially by conveying what you feel about this walk through nonverbal communication. This will help you and your partner enjoy a more meaningful experience together as a couple than if you were engaging in traditional forms of communication. As a couple visiting Prague, it’s important to find quieter, contemplative locations that provide an opportunity to engage in low-key romantic experiences, which will help you focus on each other rather than on other visitors.

8. Beer Party in the Night

Jasper: You have a place where you can drink beer? Isn’t that a little tacky for one of the world’s top ten places to be romantic?

Me: The Letná Beer Garden is not a cheap place for romance; it is magical. After taking Tram 17, we arrived at the Letná Beer Garden to find a seat just before sunset. From Letná, you will see the most amazing view of Prague; this is the classic postcard picture that everyone wants to have in their collection. You can see all the bridges (Charles, Mánes, Legií) that connect to the Vltava River, and they look like a chain of fine gold jewellery.

To be sitting at Letná with a cold, inexpensive pint of Czech beer and watching the sun set, alongside the changing colour of Prague’s skyline from yellow to orange to red, again, this is a true joy and an important reminder that the best moments in life are usually found in the most basic and simplistic ways. When considering what to do in Prague, don’t skip this view.

7. Getting Lost in the Mosaic of the Lennon Wall

The iconic John Lennon Wall in Prague bursting with bright graffiti, peace symbols, and creative murals, perfect for illustrating things to do in Prague for couples who love artistic, quirky photo spots.

Jasper: That graffiti wall next to the French Embassy, does it still look good? I’ve seen it in pictures, but there’s no way it will be like that because of all the tourists taking pictures.

Me: This is a nice photo spot, though it is also a changing symbol of things people desire to be through history. This wall has been around for years and has been a symbol of everything from love to peace, from being yourself to fighting against the government. There are many layers of paint on this wall, with each layer being a record of what people wanted to leave behind. I found an old layer and added my initials to the many people who have come before me.

I love taking great pictures on this wall because the colours and the disorder of it make the pictures look so cool. It’s definitely one of the fun and colourful things to do in Prague for couples. It showcases the spontaneous side of Prague activities. Suppose you want more great ideas for a romantic trip. In that case, you can check out the official tourist information provided by VisitCzechia (Czech Tourism Authority) to find hidden gems and unique local experiences.

6. A Cosy Classical Concert at the Mirror Chapel

A breathtaking interior of the Mirror Chapel in the Clementinum, featuring ornate Baroque design, sparkling mirrors, and warm golden lighting, an enchanting highlight among things to do in Prague for couples seeking cultural beauty.

Jasper: I don’t really like classical music. Would this be boring?

Me: Not at all! It’s an experience of atmosphere, not just Vivaldi. The Mirror Chapel is a pure baroque experience because of the amount of mirrors on the walls reflect the candlelight, the extraordinary frescoes above them and the instruments themselves, it turns the entire room into a sparkling mass. As soon as the music begins, you’ll hear a small chamber music group perform for you in an incredibly intimate environment. The music settles over you as you become completely immersed in the euphoric experience, as the sound bounces off the walls and fills your space like a comforting embrace.

In contrast, it is a more sophisticated, classy night out on the town compared to all the loud, chaotic noise in the pubs; it creates a peaceful environment where everyone can come together to admire beauty. By hosting this type of concert, Prague is showcasing its sophisticated side. If you’re looking for elegant things to do in Prague, this is a must.

5. Beer Spa Indulgence

A happy couple in their 20s standing close together and smiling, capturing the joy of discovering new places, great for representing things to do in Prague for couples looking for romantic shared moments.

Jasper: So, what is this Beer Spa? It sounds totally crazy! What’s it like? You know what I mean when I say that it sounds crazy?

Me: It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that is totally odd, indulgent and just plain silly! It is a Czech thing, and if you think you want to dive into a wooden tub (that is hand-carved, mind you) filled with the raw ingredients of beer – hops, bark, yeast, malt and all, then you will find that it’s perfect for your skin! Plus, we have a tap next to your tub serving unlimited local beer!!! The way it all works it’s a private and peaceful way to escape from the hustle and bustle of walking around.

I love that when you are sitting there with your significant other, there is a wonderful feeling of decadence by washing off the grime of the city and sitting in a tub full of warm beer!!! We both laughed, and it was a half-day of pure relaxation! It was awesome! It’s the most unique of all the things to do in Prague for couples. This is a must-try of the Prague attractions. If you want to find the easiest way to bundle these experiences together, I highly recommend looking into this Prague deal, where transportation and accommodations are included; it greatly simplified our trip planning process.

4. One Crazy Boat Ride and a Giant Swimming Swan on the Vltava River

A peaceful view of the Vltava River with boats drifting beneath Prague’s historic bridges, ideal for showcasing things to do in Prague for couples such as river cruises and sunset strolls.

Jasper: Pedal-powered boats? Seems kinda… touristy? Like something that should be done at the beach??

Me: But this one is NOT by the beach; the scenery is different! The little boats can also be rented on Slovansky Island; just like a real-life-sized, giant white swan boat, you will forget about all the traffic in the city the moment you sit down on the boat and start paddling!! At some point, you will end up going under Charles Bridge, looking up at the castle, and the castle reminds you of its massive size!

And swans?? They are the prettiest things in the world!! So to float in the water for an hour looking up at Prague from an angle that you won’t have the chance to look at again is special!! It is such an amazing escape where you can spend an hour having fun with the boat and enjoying the amazing views! Take a thermos of coffee and a croissant, enjoy a leisurely floating breakfast, then start your fabulous day. This is one of the more memorable things to do while in Prague.

3. The Twilight Landscape of Prague Castle

A glowing sunset behind the towering Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, creating a warm, romantic scene, perfect for highlighting things to do in Prague for couples who love breathtaking viewpoints.

Jasper: Wow! It is so big, with a lot to do. How do you make all that romantic!?

Me: Sunset on the Cathedral is very romantic. It’s better to arrive about 1 hour before sunset than after, so we have time to take a few pictures and not be rushed while we are there, because many other tourists will arrive at the same time or shortly before. As the sun sets, you will see the exterior courtyards and hidden gardens. The Castle will be blacked out; this allows St Vitus’ Cathedral to shine brightly.

The highlight of this time of day is the Golden Lane. This is a small row of vividly painted houses, which reminds one of a typical underground neighbourhood with the help of the streetlights in an organised walking tour. As one is walking on the tour during the dark, it is lit to reflect the light of the whole city; it was really grand and magnificent. It’s a key part of what to see in Prague for evening romance.

2. Petřín Hill/Tower panoramic viewpoint

A tall observation tower rising above the lush greenery of Petřín Hill with panoramic views of Prague, a wonderful example of things to do in Prague for couples who enjoy scenic hikes and skyline photography.

Jasper: I heard that Petřín Hill has a little Eiffel Tower on it. I also heard that the walk up to the top is quite steep!!

Me: The Petřín Funicular goes up the hillside, so it offers a unique & delightful view of the city. It also gives you access to the green area of Prague with all its parks, rose gardens, etc.

The lookout tower on top of Petřín Hill looks small yet has an expansive 360-degree view of the city, with all the unusual red rooftops and ancient church steeples of Prague. This is probably the most romantic location in all of Prague, so couples can go there and share an experience of standing at the very top of a fairytale! It’s probably the most romantic place in all of Prague, as the lookout tower is literally and metaphorically a shared view of the city. For grand photo opportunities, these things to do in Prague for couples are unbeatable.

1. A Sunrise Stroll across Charles Bridge

A stunning sunrise view of Charles Bridge with its statues, stone arches, and reflection on the Vltava River, an iconic setting for things to do in Prague for couples seeking a magical, early-morning experience.

Jasper: Charles Bridge is supposed to be really nice, but also really busy.

Me: Yes, true! To really appreciate it, you need to wake up really early (5:30) and take a walk before sunrise from Old Town Square to Malá Strana. You won’t see another person on the bridge, with only maybe one photographer quietly taking photos. With the statues of the saints placed around the bridge and the sunlight getting stronger as you walk, you really get to feel and see both the past and future together on a great, beautiful bridge, as the sunlight makes the city more alive and beautiful each minute.

Walking on the bridge this way will create a wonderful memory that will stay with you for the rest of your life, and it will be the best romantic moment of your entire time in Prague. This is the ultimate thing to do in Prague for couples. If you are looking for the absolute best romantic things to do in Prague, this is it.

So here’s what I think, Jasper. Those are ten things that you should look forward to when you visit this city. They are a chance to get closer to who we really are as people and to take some time out of our day-to-day lives just to appreciate how beautiful the world around us is.”

Jasper: Wow, me. That’s… That’s a poem instead of a list. I have already booked my ticket for the first flight, and I will definitely go to the beer spa. Thank you so much!

My Final Thought

I hope this guide will assist you in creating a way for you to visit and experience the classic beauty that is found within Prague, from the historic cobbled streets where dinosaur remains were discovered, through the beautiful Charles Bridge, and the rich history of the many spires that adorn this city. While walking through Prague, you will find the inspiration that has been waiting for you. Prague is not only a place to visit; it is to feel. It is the history of a thousand stories, and every story needs to be told so that each visit can become a story of its own. Go, make your own story of the beautiful city of Prague, and let your memories of this great place live on forever! May you have a safe trip, and may the light be with you during your Prague holidays.
